Lasham saw the busiest April for many years with over 2500 launches.
May was a little more average but there were still some very good soaring days with a significant number of public visitors both as spectators and trial lessons during the nice weather. The restaurant has been particularly busy and Nigel Chubb has taken his third CAMRA award for good beer with a presentation on 2nd June. Don’t forget the club bar and restaurant are open daily and welcome visitors.
Discussions continue with the “Second World War Aircraft Preservation Society” to improve the appearance of both their facility and their exhibits prior to them making an application to extend their planning permission for the temporary building. This permission expires shortly and they must re apply in order to be allowed to keep the prefabricated structure. Lasham Gliding would like to see an overall improvement of the site before new permission is granted.
Security continues to be a concern and we are shortly going to install a new wire fence along the Avenue Road boundary with the caravan site. There have been a number of small thefts from the caravan site in recent weeks.
Our competition week this year is from August 8th – 16th
