LOCAL MATHS TUTOR LAUNCHES COURSE FOR THE UNDER-FIVES
For the past five years Andrew Kuttner, better maths tutor, has been helping children in Eastleigh, and more recently in Alton, with their maths. His course ensures a sound foundation in the basics – mental and written arithmetic – combined with calculation-based school-maths and preparation for key exams.
Andrew has found that many children are held back throughout their schooling because they have not developed a real number-sense in their very early years of education. His new miniMATHS course is aimed as enabling 3-5 year-olds to learn to read and write numbers, recognise patterns of objects and dots, count to beyond 200, relate numbers symbols to the quantities they represent and understand basic addition.
A miniMATHS Study Supervisor works closely and patiently with students, providing focus, positive reinforcement and tuition at each class. Ongoing positive interaction in class and at home is crucial at this stage of learning.
The miniMATHS course is personalised for each student. Counting with children and using tools like worksheets, flashcards and number boards form the basis of the miniMATHS course. Each child progresses at his or her own pace. miniMATHS introduces children to the basic skills required to learn maths.
