How to choose the perfect Wedding Flowers
There are so many flowers to choose from now brides can find that choosing the right flowers can be a bit daunting, there are many things to consider. The three main considerations are cost, colours, and the season, all are linked together.
If you choose tulips in springtime when they are seasonal they will cost less, and look perfect for an early spring wedding. Choosing flowers that are not in season will cost more and the quality of the flowers out of their natural season is very often poor, imagine having Sunflowers in January or sweet peas in December, it just doesn’t work.
For most brides getting flowers to blend with their bridesmaids colours is the main concern. Matching colours can be difficult so take a colour swatch to your florist and be prepared to have a blend of flowers to compliment rather than match, if you have chosen an aquamarine for your bridesmaids a matching flower is almost impossible, however a palette of soft pinks, creams, with some eucalyptus looks wonderful.
Roses are always a popular choice, roses have so many colours to choose from there is nearly always a colour to suit, and roses can be made to look seasonal by changing what you put them with. Red or white roses look great with winter foliage and berries, use lots of ivy twigs berries and roses with lots of candles for a dramatic winter reception, this is really good if you have chosen a barn style reception venue, keep the arrangements natural and wild looking.
A tightly packed rose posy studded with diamond pins will look chic for a smart town venue or city wedding keep the same feel for the reception with roses in a simple glass vase with mini
mum foliage.
If you are having a summer wedding in a country church have lots of relaxed country style flowers, stock, delphiniums, peony’s, spray roses, lilac, to name but a few. Your bouquet could be a relaxed flowing cascade of summer flowers in pastel colours, with seasonal summer flowers you will get a gentle perfume too.
Remember you want your flowers to compliment the style of your wedding the flowers play a major part in how everything looks on the day and have a huge and lasting impact on your guests. Your venue will be transformed by the right flowers so decide on the feel you want or theme of your wedding, the venue, your bridesmaids colours and the season, all this knowledge will help you and your florist create the right and unique flowers for your special day.
