We have four sections of scouting at our home, We have two beaver colonys, two cub packs, one scout troop and one explorer unit.
Our Scout Troop is now 50 years old.
Beaver Scouts are young people usually aged between 6 and 8 years old. They belong to the first and youngest Section in the Scouting family. Young people can join Beaver Scouts in the three months leading up to their sixth birthday. They can move to the next Section, Cub Scouts, between 8 and 8 1/2 years.
Easily recognised by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts, Beavers enjoy making friends, playing games, going on visits and helping others. Our Beaver Colony meets once a week and is always welcoming to those who want to get involved.
Cub Scouts are young people aged between 8 and 10 1/2 years old. They belong to the second and middle Section of the Scout Group. Young people can join Cub Scouts in the three months leading up to their eighth birthday. They can move to the next Section, Scouts, between 10 and 10 1/2 years.
Cubs enjoy a range of different activities like swimming, music, exploring, computing and collecting. If done properly many each activity can lead to an activity badge to add to their uniform. Cubs also get to go on trips and days out, to places like the zoo, theme parks or a farm. The Cub Pack provides the first opportunity for camping outdoors; sleeping in a tent and doing loads of outdoor activities.
