Alton Event 13th June 2009
TRELOARS AND THE LIONS HAVE SUCESSFUL ROUNDUP

Alton Public Gardens was full of aspiring cowboys and Indians at the weekend as the sun shone on the festivities. The gardens were filled by the music of Mack and The Western Aces and music from DJ Paul Lefeuvre’s extensive collection. Members of the public got into the western spirit in a line dancing display led by Jan Hone from Ropley.

The event was opened by Lion President Derek Shaw and Town Mayor Cyril Chick who along with his wife wore the appropriate headgear.

There was a large crowd to watch the shootout in the mock western town, staged by the Portsmouth Wild West Association and more peaceably a long line of visitors to experience life in the Bald Eagle Lodge, welcomed by ‘Big Dog’ and ‘Free Spirit’.

Other attractions were Stevo the Magician, chainsaw woodcarving, Indian head massages, War/Face painting, a chess challenge against young ace Peter Williams, make and take, a stocks with sponges and water, bowling for a pig, name the dog and food and refreshments.

Closing the show, organiser Moira Baker thanked everyone for their support and particular thanked the sponsors, Alton Home Hardware; Chris Barnes Garden Machinery Maintenance; Espressos; Little Green Dragon; Mr Whitehead’s Cider Company; Newbury Building Society; The Flower Pots, Cheriton and Triple fff Brewing Company.
