30th March - 4th May 2010 ‘Selborne at Heart’ Exhibition of water colour paintings by Rupert Head Gilbert White’s House & Garden & The Oates Collection, Selborne, Hampshire, GU34 3JH. Open Daily, 10.30am to 5.30pm Normal Admission charges apply. Until recently Rupert concentrated his artistic passion on the sea and maritime subjects. This fitted into a naval career spanning 38 years where he established royal connections during his four years serving as Commander in HMY Britannia. He has painted for The Queen and has a painting in the Royal Collection. He has had a number of exhibitions in UK and abroad. After three and a half years as the Naval Attache in Riyadh he developed an attraction to the desert and held an exhibition of Saudi life at the British Embassy. A month ago he held a very successful exhibition in Switzerland. Since starting this project over a year ago Rupert has developed a very deep affection for Selborne and this shows very clearly in his paintings which are for sale in support of the Museum’s charitable trust. www.gilbertwhiteshouse.org.uk 01420 511275.

24th April 2010 Spring Charity Concert The Imperial Male Voice Choir and Ancora Alton Maltings Centre, Alton. 7.30pm. Internationally acclaimed Imperial Male Voice Choir comes to Alton. This distinguished choir regularly tours abroad and makes recordings under the baton of its well-known musical director, the professional singer and vocal coach Deborah Miles-Johnson. Local female voice choir, Ancora, are delighted to be performing with them, together presenting an exciting and varied programme of music to celebrate spring. Refreshments will be on offer during the interval, complementing what promises to be a wonderful evening of musical entertainment. The money raised from the concert will go directly to support the work of Home-Start Weywater, a local charity providing support for young families in Alton and the surrounding area (http://www.home-start.org.uk/).
