 | | | Four Marks Football Club End of Season Report May 2009
After a topsey turvey season which has now drawn to a close, that also saw the clubs first team go through three different managers and also saw both teams fielding different teams each week, leading to a low morale for the first team. They finally turned things round towards the end of the season under the guidance of Darren Ford which lead to them avoiding relegation and the introduction of new key players for the club. Darren and assistant Ian cook came in at the turn of the year taking over the mantle from Darren’s brother Andy, and took charge for the final 13 games of the season in the Zenith Hampshire 2004 league, after a few bad results managed to steady the ship and gain valuable points in order to avoid the drop. The club has a fantastic crop of young players, which combined with the older more experienced players should lead to a bright future for the club.
The reserves on the other hand had overall a superb season and only just missed out on promotion from Aldershot Division 2. They were unbeaten up until the turn of the year under caretaker manager Brian Ford, but lost vital games in the final run in to mean a fourth spot finish. The reserves reached the Hampshire Junior B Cup quarter final and the Aldershot League Cup semi-final, where they unfortunately bowed out on both occasions to Henley’s Electric of Bournemouth and Bagshot respectively. Both teams look forward to the new season where they can start afresh and begin another assault on their respective leagues!
Pre-season training will start the first week in June; updates can be seen on the club website (below). The club is always on the lookout for new players and anyone who is interested in playing for the club who has played at county level or above down to senior football aged 15 years old onwards and is interested in playing for either team can turn up or contact the various numbers below for more information.
